Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in Australia. Now, an act of generosity is set to change what that means for heart patients for generations to come. With the philanthropic support of long-time Cabrini champion Eva Selwyn, Cabrini Health is proud to announce the establishment of the Eva Selwyn Endowed Chair of Cardiac Research.

As the doors swung open to wheel in the first patient scheduled for our new cardiac catheter laboratory, Professor Peter Kistler looked around and couldn’t help but be impressed. “It’s big, isn’t it?” Peter said after a successful day one in the lab that opened last week. “It already features state-of-the art equipment but having such a spacious facility gives Cabrini tremendous potential for growth and expansion to integrate new technologies, because there’s a lot happening in the treatment of heart rhythm problems and cardiology interventions.”

Twenty years ago, Graham would have been facing open-heart surgery for his leaky heart valve. ‍But thanks to a clever piece of equipment– a transoesophageal echocardiogram(TOE) ultrasound and probe – our cardiacteam was able to repair his valve throughkeyhole surgery.

We’re building for the better… Stage 1 of the redevelopment of Cabrini Malvern is well underway.

Cabrini opened Australia’s first dedicated women-only mental health hospital in 2021, the Lisa Thurin Women’s Health Centre, providing a residential treatment program for a wide range of mental health needs, from mood disorders and stress, to trauma and addiction – tailored specifically to the needs of women.

Cabrini-Monash collaboration empowering breakthoughs

Thank you for supporting cancer care at Cabrini. We have seen this week that Four Corners explored the fact that cancer is no longer a “disease of aging” – that the cancer rates in Australians under the age of 50 are rising at an alarming pace.

With their shared passion for music and life, Roger and Julie Leeming’s world was a vivid kaleidoscope of theatre and entertainment. From the UK to Australia, Roger was engaging, a skilled performer and the central player in their 40 year marriage.

At Cabrini, our people make the difference in providing world-class healthcare. Last month, a group of dedicated supporters and leaders came together in celebration of Cabrini’s Nursing & Healthcare Professionals Scholarship program.

Cabrini Health has continued to pioneer female-focused mental health programs in 2025, by introducing the first ADHD and Autism assessment centre specifically for women.

Excitingly, a new state-of-the-art laser – fully funded by our Cabrini community – will help our team of urologists to offer faster, safer and more precise treatments for patients with kidney stones.

Cabrini is a leader in comprehensive cancer care.

There is something special about Cabrini. Keryn Connor knows this well, as Cabrini has been there for Keryn and her late husband Keith for the last 40 years.

As we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), Cabrini continues its relentless pursuit in the fight against this pervasive disease.

With her works based on spirituality, colour and a unique modern style, Yael is exhibiting new works at the beautiful Daylesford Art Gallery in May 2024.
