Every minute matters

For critically ill patients, like Steve, every minute matters.

Help us bring next-generation equipment into our ICU

Your support today will help bring three state-of-the-art Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machines into our intensive care unit.

CRRT is a specialised dialysis treatment that gently replaces kidney function for our sickest patients. By continuously flushing out toxins and fluid, it provides precious time for the body to recover from severe infection, major surgery, trauma or organ failure.

“This is the type of therapy which we have to start in the middle of the night. It's not something that can wait. We need to make sure we always have two machines ready to go.
It's as fundamental in ICU as a ventilator”

– A/Prof Vineet Sarode, ICU Director

Who might need CRRT?

When a patient becomes critically ill, their kidneys can suddenly stop working.

CRRT therapy continuously removes waste products and excess fluid while restoring the body’s fluid, electrolyte and acid balance, giving patients vital support as they recover.

Patients may need CRRT because of:

~ Severe infections such as sepsis
~ Major surgery or traumatic injuries
~ Heart, liver or multi-organ failure
~ Dangerous fluid build-up in the body
~ Life-threatening imbalances of waste products, electrolytes or acid levels in the blood

Your support will help equip our ICU with advanced technology that saves lives and gives critically ill patients the best possible chance of recovery.
