Your Impact
By 2036, more than 150,000 patients will look to Cabrini for healthcare every year.
Many people will be over 70, in need of cancer, cardiac and orthopaedic care. To meet this need we are building for better: better access, better capacity, better intervention, better research, better treatments and better facilities.
This whole of site development will be an enduring asset to the future of Melbourne’s healthcare by increasing Cabrini’s capacity, strengthening capability and future proofing the hospital, together.

Honouring 20 Years of Giving
Eva Selwyn - 20 Years of Giving and beyond

The Selwyn family’s philanthropic journey with Cabrini has been long and generous, saving lives and bringing the very best of care to so many. The Alan, Ada and Eva Selwyn Emergency Department remains central to Cabrini Malvern.
In 2023, Eva continued her parents' commitment by establishing the Alan, Ada and Eva Selwyn Endowed Chair of Colorectal Cancer Research which is progressing clinical research into the prevention, earlydetection and improving the treatment of bowel cancer.
Today, Eva Selwyn proudly continues the legacy of generosity, personally supporting several new infrastructure and research projects at Cabrini.
As part of the Next Era Redevelopment at Cabrini Malvern, Eva is supporting the new Acute Cardiac Centre on Level 1 of the new East Building and also the transformation of the Emergency Department.
In June 2026, through another visionary gift, Cabrini Health has announced the establishment of the Eva Selwyn Endowed Chair of Cardiac Research.
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in Australia. This gift is set to change what that means for heart patients for generations to come.
Professor Nathan Better, an internationally recognised clinician-researcher specialising in nuclear cardiology, cardiac computed tomography and advanced cardiac imaging, has been appointed the inaugural Chair. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Cabrini Research and for the patients whose lives will be transformed by future discoveries.
An endowed chair is one of the highest forms of philanthropic investment in academic medicine. It provides permanent support for an outstanding clinician-researcher, protecting dedicated research time while enabling them to continue caring for patients.
"But at its very heart, this investment is about people," Professor Better said. "Our patients are ultimately going to be the beneficiaries of this generous gift because it will allow us to invest in our researchers and increase our capacity to undertakemore research. That means more clinical trials, new treatments, and improvements in diagnosis, imaging and interventional techniques. "We'll find better ways to do things because of this investment."
Eva has long believed in the power of research to transform patient outcomes. Her gift represents a significant and enduring investment in the future of cardiac care.
"Heart conditions affect people in so many ways," Eva said. "We wouldn't have the range oftreatments available today without investments made in research by previous generations.
"These advances are improving and s
Reflecting on her family's enduring connection to Cabrini, Eva added: "Cabrini Malvern is, and has always been, such an important part of our lives. I am thrilled to continue my relationship with my Cabrini family."
