2020 Critical Equipment

At Cabrini we rely on access to the latest technology and equipment to ensure the best outcomes for our patients and their families.

Technology changes quickly and we need your support to ensure that we are at the forefront of medical technology.

 

The equipment in this list has been identified by our surgeons and theatre teams as a high priority. 100% of the equipment cost will be funded by donations.

 

 

Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) machine – 1 required

Urology, Cancer

The IRE machine provides a painless and minimally invasive surgical technique used in the treatment of prostate cancer. With the use of the IRE it ensures that the patient’s post-surgery recovery is much-improved.

A faster recovery means the patient is home sooner and can resume normal tasks more quickly.

Cost: $580,350

 

 

 

Sentimag Magentic Detection System – 2 urgently required (Malvern and Brighton)

Breast Cancer

Our teams at Malvern and Brighton urgently require this new technology which helps identify the exact location of the breast tumour. The detection system means that the breast tumour can be clearly identified prior to surgery.

Cost: $131,000 each

 

 

Transoesophageal  Echocardiogram (TOE) Ultrasound Probes – 2 required   plus 1 donated

Theatre, Anaesthetics, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiology

Our Cardiac team have asked for the TOE ultrasound which provides 4D images of the heart and allows for the best assessment of function and blood flow. This TOE provides a safe and effective way of finding out about our patient’s heart condition quickly and effectively.

Cost: $65,000 each

 

 

 

Transoesophageal  Echocardiogram (TOE) Ultrasound EPIQ 7 upgrade to EPIQ CVx – 2 required 

Theatre, Anaesthetics, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiology

This TOE ultrasound system is used for all types of cardiac and cardiology cases, and allows a 4D view of the heart from within the oesophagus.

Cost: $50,000 each

 

 

 

 

VITOM Telescope 90 Degree STORZ – 1 required

Theatre, Cardiac

Our cardiac surgeons wear this telescope during procedures. It allows the procedure to be watched by anaesthetists and nurses in the operating theatre.  Our theatre team can then anticipate any emergency care that might be needed for our patients.

Cost: $21,666

 

XPS Surgical Shaver – 2 required

Surgical, Ears, Nose and Throat

The latest technology for shaving fine tissue in the nose for sleep apnoea and breathing issues.

Cost: $11,485 each

 

 

0 Degree Telescopes 4mm – 3 required

Telescopes allow our neurosurgeons to navigate and access brain tumours.

This is far less painful than traditional surgery and our patients will have a faster recovery with minimal scarring.

Cost: $5,688

 

 

 

30 Degree Telescopes 4mm – 3 required

Telescopes allow our neurosurgeons to navigate and access the brain tumour. This 30 degree telescopes provides enhanced visibility of the tumour.

Cost: $5,688

 

 

 

 

 

Arthroscope 70 Degree 4mm – 1 required

For our orthopaedic doctors, the special scope enables them to look into smaller joints such as the shoulder or ankle.

Cost: $4,948
