Marjorie Mitchell’s long relationship with Cabrini started before she was born – both her parents were treated at Cabrini and she has been coming to the hospital since it first opened its doors.

For Marjorie, now 88 years old, and for the whole family, Cabrini is the “go to” hospital.

“To have the opportunity to go somewhere where you know you’re going to be looked after and happy,” is what Marjorie says is most important to her.

“At Cabrini you can rely on personal care. Whatever you want, they’ll give you.”

Marjorie was admitted to Cabrini Emergency earlier this year after her second fall at home. As she presented with confusion, a precautionary CT scan of her head was performed and revealed enlarged brain ventricles.

Following extensive consultation between the family, Marjorie and neurosurgeon Myron Rogers, it was decided not to proceed with surgery due to Marjorie’s age and other risk factors.

Eventually Marjorie elected to go into aged care, where she is now happy and in good spirits. Her daughter Sandy is very appreciative of “the huge and quintessential team effort” put in by many people and departments of Cabrini.

Doctors, specialists, nurses, social services, rehabilitation and many others. From the moment she was admitted to ED to the moment she was discharged, Marjorie received exceptional care and support.
