On Saturday February 1 the Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer Ride for Research team braved Geelong’s rain and wind to successfully complete the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race People’s Ride. A total of 20 participants signed up to ride as part of a team lead by Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer’s Chairman prof Paul McMurrick. ‘It was, shall we say, inclement weather’ Prof McMurrick said, ‘Only a few hardy souls braved the constant rain and wind but we all made it over the line with no injuries’.
The team was made up of Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer surgeons, researchers, supporters and friends, with team member James Page keeping pace with Cadel Evans throughout the race to finish in the lead peloton – by no way a mean feat!
By the time of the race the team had raised more than $13,000 toward bowel cancer research, with fundraising still open for another couple of weeks. You can still show your support by helping them towards their target by donating at cabrinifoundation.com.au/fundraisers/lets-beat-bowel-cancer-ride-for-research/.
We are extremely grateful to all of our team members completing the ride and raising much needed funds for bowel cancer research!
