On the 8th April, staff members Ashiya Rafiq and Kishore Pawar from Cabrini’s Residential Aged Care in Ashwood were lucky to attend a two-day masterclass hosted by acclaimed chef Maggie Beer. The masterclass is designed to look at issues faced with creating great food for Aged Care residents.
Food is a big part of everyone’s life and especially so when you are elderly.
Many of our residents look forward to the social aspects of sharing meals together each day. We provide highly nutritious meal plans for each resident and create meals to tempt those who may have diminished appetities.
During the two-day workshop, Ashiya and Kishore had hands on cooking activities, including a mystery box challenge and were able to discuss their day-to-day working lives with colleagues from around Australia. They both believe that they have learnt a lot from the experience. which will have a real impact on the residents at Ashwood Aged Care.
Their participation in the workshop was generously supported by a donation from one of our fantastic Cabrini Foundation supporters, Marc Fookes. Marc has an ongoing interest in the food services we provide to patients at Cabrini. After the course he met with Ashiya and Kishore to discuss the learnings from the course and how they plan to implement these for our 90 Residents at Ashwood.
A very big THANK YOU to Marc for helping bring fabulous food to the elderly in our care.
