Cabrini is owned and sponsored by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus who came to Australia in 1948 to take over the management of a 45-bed community hospital named St Benedict’s in the Melbourne suburb of Malvern.
Cabrini now has more than 800 beds and a comprehensive range of healthcare and health-related services. We have hospitals in Brighton, Malvern and Prahran, a residential aged-care home in Ashwood and a rehabilitation service provided from two hospitals in Elsternwick, as well as primary care facilities with our Asylum Seeker & Refugee Health Hub in Brunswick and our general practice in Caulfield South.
The Cabrini Institute supports education, research and health promotion, in order to continually improve the quality of care we provide and educate tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.
Cabrini is a for-purpose (or not-for-profit) healthcare service, and as a charitable institution any surpluses we make on the provision of our services are reinvested in the development of our services, programs, facilities and equipment to provide the best possible care for patients and families.
Cabrini supports and operates programs for disadvantaged people in our community. Patient care is the primary focus of our work and at the heart of all we do.
